Miguel Arias Cañete no continuará como ministro de Agricultura la próxima legislatura. Ya le han buscado una salida digna del Ministerio, de modo que irá en las listas de eurodiputados del PP en las próximas elecciones europeas de 2015.
El ministro ha quedado desacreditado ante el sector hortofrutícola como interlocutor veraz, tras las presiones que ha sufrido por otros dos ministros, Cristóbal Montoro y Luis de Guindos, en torno a la ley de la cadena alimentaria. Cañete llegó a un acuerdo con los actores del sector, pero Montoro y De Guindos han obligado al ministro del campo a recular y comprometer lo prometido a las organizaciones agrarias y empresariales de frutas y hortalizas. Arias Cañete convino con los representantes de los agricultores crear un sistema de precios de productos agrícolas, sobre el que no tuviese potestad la temida CNC, Comisión Nacional de la Competencia. Sin embargo, el ministro de Hacienda (Montoro) y el de Economía (De Guindos) ningunearon a su homólogo de Agricultura (Cañete) para que no sea así, y ahora este hecho ha creado un precedente que lo desprestigia como persona de autoridad y confianza a la hora de negociar cualquier cuestión relacionada con el agro. «¿Cómo vamos a confiar ahora en él, si dice una cosa y sus propios compañeros se lo echan para atrás?», me comentaba hace unos días uno de los agentes del sector hortofrutícola presente en las negociaciones de la ley de la cadena alimentaria. Y añadía esta fuente: «La próxima vez pediremos reunirnos con el presidente, no con el ministro, ya que de poco sirve lo que él diga«.
